MUMBAI: Indian actors and celebrities have often fallen into controversies due to police incursion leading to tongues wagging in the town. The police raids have often made big headlines when celebrities get arrested or get detained on the spot. Have a glance at some of these cases which caught attention not long ago.

Niharika Konidela

South Indian renowned actress Niharika Konidela was under controversy recently on Sunday when police raided Hyderabad Banjara Hills, a city pub, when Niharika alongside Rahul Sipligunj with 150 others were arrested. The pub management has received charges for keeping the venue open beyond the permitted time after the Task Force filed a complaint. Banned substances were also retrieved from the venue reportedly.

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan was arrested in October last year along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha.The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided the Goa-bound cruise ship, The Cordelia Cruise which became a major talk of the town. The raid was headed by Sameer Wankhede, an NCB zonal chief. The actor’s son was held captive for 25 days at the Byculla Jail and later released on bail by Bombay High Court.

Hritik Roshan’s ex wife, Sussane Khan was apprehended on 22 December during the COVID-19 spurge for allegedly violating the covid protocols at Dragon Fly Club, J W Marriot. Prominent personalities including cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhawa were also involved in the controversy. Sussane refuting all the allegations charged on her said, “Last night I was at a close friend’s birthday dinner & a few of us extended to the DragonFly club at JW Marriott, Sahar. At 2.30 am the authorities entered the club. Whilst the club management and the authorities were sorting things out, all the guests present were asked to wait for a period of three hours. We were finally allowed to leave at 6 am. Therefore, the speculation by parts of the media that there were arrests made are completely incorrect and also irresponsible.”

Kapil Javeri, who predominantly worked in the Bollywood industry was arrested by after cops raided his villa in Vagator earlier in 2020. The actor was spotted violating the COVID-19 protocols along with recovering narcotics substances worth Rs. 9 Lakh. Three foreign nationals along with 23 others were booked. The actor was held captive for 10 days and was later granted bail by the Principal Sessions Court
