Virat Kohli & Sunil Chhetri’s DTC masti

MUMBAI: Stars have had humble beginnings we all know.

Did you know that Indian cricket captain and sensation Virat Kohli and football genius Sunil Chhetri used to travel by Delhi Transport Corporation buses when they were younger and sometimes even skipped paying for their rides by claiming they were staff ?

In a video shared on Twitter, the duo related some humorous moments.

“I tried it once,” disclosed Virat, whose consistent form has seen India rise to become a highly feared cricket team. “But the ticket guy asked me questions which I could not answer. So I got off the bus. Sad part is I did not have the aura which others did. They always caught me and I had to pay up, whereas others used the same tactic and got by.”

Chettri revealed that he used to get Rs 20 as pocket money. “I used to travel without a ticket and the fine for ticketless travel  then was Rs 20,” he pointed out. “I thought if I got caught I would pay the fine or run away. I did this for many days and got away scot free. But I got caught one day and had to pay the Rs 20 fine. Then they raised the fine to Rs 50. I told myself, I will have to buy the ticket now.  Which I started doing. Those were the days.”

As they say, childhood memories make us smile. And this one did make many a cricket and football fan break into laughter.
