MUMBAI : Farhan Akhtar, known for his multifaceted talents, continuously challenges himself to elevate his performances on screen. His 2021 streaming release "Toofan" saw him embodying the role of a boxer, a character that required intense mental and physical commitment. Under the direction of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film demanded Farhan's unwavering dedication, and he rose to the occasion. As the film celebrates its third anniversary, reflecting on Farhan's immersive journey into the character is both enlightening and inspiring.
Farhan Akhtar as Boxer Aziz Ali in Toofaan presented a character that was inspirational. The actor spent 2 hours practicing boxing, as a part of his preparation for his character. He also spent 5-6 months mastering the fundamentals of boxing including the various skills and techniques.
"We didn't train for a film, we trained to be a boxer," says Farhan in a behind the scenes video, mini-documentary of his sports drama film, Toofan. His dedication is visible in the film.
He further added,"Roughly about five to six months were spent learning the ABC's, techniques, and physically preparing myself. We did train for a film. We train to be a boxer."
Farhan Akhtar's Toofaan also starring Paresh Rawal, Mrunal Thakur and Hussain Dalal , produced by Excel Entertainment is a story of an orphaned extortionist in Dongri who beats up shopkeepers for money. He gets into a fight and goes to a hospital, where the doctor, Ananya Prabhu (played by Mrunal Thakur) criticizes him for being an extortionist and orders him out. The film was well received by the streaming audience but Farhan’s performance received special appreciation from fans.
Farhan is currently prepping up for his upcoming untitled project. The actor in an interview with an entertainment news portal had revealed a few months ago that he will begin the shoot from July 2024.
