MUMBAI: Ajay Devgn, who is known for films like Singham, Drishyam and Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, has received a request from a fan to not promote tobacco.
The name of the fan is Nanakram. He is a 40-year-old cancer patient from Rajasthan.
Ajay has now responded to the fan’s request. In an interview with PTI, the actor said that he has always maintained in his contracts that he is not promoting tobacco. The advertisements he does are of ilaaichi (cardamom) and his contracts mention that they will be non-tobacco. He further said that if the company for which he does a commercial sells something else, he doesn't know what to do.
Ajay, who will be next seen in De De Pyaar De, said that he will try his best to not smoke on screen if his character in a film doesn't demand it.
He said that in De De Pyaar De he is playing the character of a regular man who does not smoke, but if he is playing a Malik bhai in a film like Company, how will it be without smoking. “Without taking any names, we were playing somebody (real) who smoked. So it would have been wrong to not show it as it would not be true to the role," he explained.
De De Pyaar De is set to hit the theatres on 17 May 2019.
