KC college's Diamond jubilee celebration saw a galaxy of VVIPs from all walks of lives descending to celebrate the college's 75 glorious years of existence. From Nita Ambani to Ram Jethmalani, from Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria to noted journalist Shekhar Gupta, the who's who of India were in attendance. The proceedings for the evening were kickstarted by the Governor of Maharashtra Shri. Vidyasagar Rao along with Cultural affairs minister, Vinod Tawade.
But the glitz of the event was undoubtedly provided by the Bollywood stars namely Boman Irani, Ila Arun, Abhishek Bachchan, Prakash Jha and Vidya Balan. However, the lady who stole maximum spotlight with her effortless grace and charisma especially over Abhishek Bachchan was Kareena Kapoor Khan. Here's what happened.
Boman Irani, Ila Arun and Prakash Jha were early birds having arrived well in time for the 5 pm event. Abhishek who was held up at another event in Sanatcruz arrived a tad late much after the proceedings on stage with the Governor and other dignitaries had started. Eminent builder Niranjan Hiranandani was delivering his welcome speech when Abhishek Bachchan walked in with Bunty Walia. Junior B's arrival made heads turn and girls giggled and blushed in hushed whispers. Abhishek too nonchalantly took his seat in the front row next to Rakesh Maria sans any superstar trappings.
Five minutes later, Kareena Kapoor Khan wearing a stunning black number made a diva like entry with the paparazzi clicking every step of the actress at break neck speed. The beautiful lady's entry worked like a cat set among pigeons for all of a sudden loud 'wows' could be heard in the auditorium. Noticing the brouhaha around him, Abhishek turned around and on seeing Kareena the actor soon enough looked away and regained his original sitting position.
Meanwhile, Kareena's entry sent a flutter among the dignitaries seated inside and a few got up to even greet her. Niranjan whose speech on stage was going unnoticed, by way of slight irritation mentioned, ' And welcome to Kareena Kapoor.'
Taking the cue, Kareena too cut shot her meet and greet session and took her seat next to Prakash Jha in the row adjacent to Abhishek.
Just when we thought Abhishek had been ignored for Kareena was mentioned and greeted by the speaker on stage, Niranjan quickly greeted Abhishek too. 'Welcome to Abhishek Bachchan too,' Niranjan said which immediately received a rapturous applause.
Kareena and Abhishek only cordial acknowledged each other later from their respective seating positions.
Abhishek did however mention Kareena in his speech on stage.. “To Vidya, Boman and Bebo, please be careful on stage..it's slippery.”
Kareena and Abhishek made their debut together with Refugee in 2000 and they had remained friends until Abhishek's engagement with Karisma Kapoor broke. Post that, the Bachchans have only been cordial with the Kapoors to say the least.
