MUMBAI: Manoj Bajpayee is one of the best stars in the Hindi industry. There was a time when the actor had got a role from Sanjay Leela Bhansali for 'Devdas' but he had rejected the same. The birthday boy was considered for an extended role in the period drama film, but he declined the offer.

'The Family Man' star rejected Sanjay's offer as he was not happy in playing the role of a supporting character. The actor is known for playing lead roles and felt that if he had played a supporting role then his value in the industry would have decreased. During an interview with ETimes, the actor quipped, "I've always wanted to play 'Devdas.' There have been a few adaptations, but no one thought of casting me. I would love to play that character".

To talk about 'Devdas' Sanjay's movie was adapted from the Bengali classic that had Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Paro and Madhuri Dixit played the role of Chandramukhi. In the film, SRK is seen coming back to India after 10 years, post studying in London. He wants to marry his childhood friend Paro, but due to her family background as dancers, she is considered of lower status. She marries someone else, and Devdas becomes a sad alcoholic.

Talking about Manoj, on the work front, he is rocking with 'Silence 2:The Night Owl Bar Shootout' as ACP Avinash. It is a sequel to the 2021 crime thriller 'Silence... Can You Hear It'? (I could not)'. The actor also turned a year older today and has been taking Hindi cinema to zenith since the start.
