Women came in large numbers to watch Grand Masti - Vivek Oberoi

Dispelling popular notion that Grand Masti was disliked by women, actor Vivek Oberoi yesterday told us that his adult-comedy centric movie was immensely appreciated by the fairer sex. “It would be wrong to say that women didn’t like Grand Masti. I saw many women coming to theaters. In fact, I would say more than 50% of the audience in cinema halls comprised of women. Ladies came in large numbers like these kitty party groups and also senior citizen groups, to watch my movie,” averred Vivek. Vivek also believes that the film appealed to audience of all age groups from 18 to 80 and worked especially well with couples. “A lot of couples watched the movie too and the funniest thing is every couple watching the movie used to face one question – Is she your wife or girlfriend?” said a winking Vivek. Grand Masti, which turned out to be a sleeper hit, surprised not just the audience but even the lead actors of the movie. Reveals Vivek, “Never even in my wildest dreams did I think that Grand Masti would get such a bumper response. I remember while shooting for the movie there was only one person who used to say that this movie will cross 100 crore and that was Inder Kumar. I, Riteish and Aftab used to laugh it off. But his prediction turned out to be true and how.” Grand Masti which is still running in theaters is the first adult Indian movie to have raked in over a 100 crore at the box-office. The record was earlier held by Imran Khan’s Delhi Belly which accumulated a total of 54 crore. With the movie having set the cash registers ringing, we hear that team Grand Masti is organizing a success bash tomorrow at a suburban hotel. Perfect time to pop the champagne and indulge in some celebrations, we say.
