MUMBAI :A record-breaking number of tickets had been sold in advance this year, despite all the uncertainty surrounding Vijay's Leo's release in the Telugu states and its first showing in Tamil Nadu. According to Sacnilk, Leo has already sold 16 lakh tickets and may go on to sell a total of 20 lakh before the official opening.
In the process, Vijay's Leo surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which debuted last month and is currently the top-grossing Hindi film in India in terms of advance ticket sales. For its opening day, Jawan sold 15.75 lakh seats through advance purchasing. 13.75 lakh tickets have been sold for the Tamil version of Leo, compared to 2.10 lakh and 20,000 for the Telugu and Hindi versions, respectively.
Leo has made less money than Jawan, despite it, so far. While Lokesh's movie has so far brought in 31 crores, Jawan was able to collect 41 crores through advance booking. The difference in the average ticket price of the two movies is what caused the difference. On opening day, Jawan's average ticket cost was 251, while Leo's was 202.
The most significant target state for Leo, Tamil Nadu, has added a challenge through permitting its earliest program to begin at 7 AM rather than 4 AM as the producers had requested by the Madras High Court. The maximum number of screenings per day has also been limited to five, between 9 AM and 1:30 AM, given the movie's 2 hours and 43-minute running time, the 20 minutes mandated intermission, and the 40-minute cleaning time required after each screening.
On October 19, Leo will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada in 2D and IMAX.
