From sari to a short skirt, Daya transformed into actress Disha Vakani

Yesterday at the success party of SAB’s show, Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah which recently fetched a rating of 4.3, the entire cast and crew turned up to raise a toast. Adding to the charm of the party was Disha Vakani aka Daya Jethalal who preferred to come as a hot babe in a white short skirt and blue sleeveless top with high heels. TellyChakkar spoke to Disha who seemed in high spirits as she said, “Today I just thought of coming out of my regular on-screen look and wear something different from the sari (smiles). We had started with nothing and have reached up to this level with the show getting so famous and topping the charts. Our producer almost waited for two years with the concept of this sitcom which was rejected by many in the business of daily soaps.” As she further said, “I am very happy working with this team especially with my co-actor Dilip Joshi (Jethalal), my favourite character in the show as he plays a varied role of a distinguished romantic hubby, typical father, weird son and even a different boss in his office which is altogether a difficult task, still he is very supportive and a lovable senior co-star. “There are times when I am exhausted to shoot for the same role but my wonderful co-actors rally around me and help me put in my best efforts, and retain the freshness of my role. At times I even feel very lucky as most of my family members including my younger sister, are amazing theatre artists who helped me in my acting skills.” Here’s hoping Disha has many more occasions to celebrate.
