Here is another couple from the world of Indian television who have come together on-screen and off-screen. Shilpa Shinde and Romit Raj who are all set to get married towards the end of this year in real life were a couple in the popular serial Maayka as well. The pretty actress is currently busy preparing for her impending marriage. “I am spending a lot of my time in shopping malls doing window shopping and buying stuff for my marriage. Any girl loves to do this, especially if her marriage is at hand!” says Shilpa with a smile. “We will be announcing our date of marriage soon!” informs Shilpa. Shinde, who used to play a key role in Maayka, had quit the show on grounds of the role becoming too monotonous, has been off the radar since then. She is without a show even today but claims to be enjoying every bit of it. “Everyone I meet asks me the same question! What am I doing, how am I spending my time, how is life without television…let me tell you that while life without television is quite boring, I definitely have a life beyond acting in Maayka,” explains Shilpa. “Plus, I have no qualms in confessing that I am yet to get a good offer after Maayka. Most of the roles I am being offered are meaningless and not backed by a strong script. Frankly, after the stupendous success of Rakhi Ki Swayamvar, I am speechless. If this is what the Indian audience wants, I really do not have much to say. I found it in bad taste and weird,” says Shilpa. Moving on to the love of her life she says, “What attracted me to Romit was his nature. He had no airs about himself and was extremely professional on the sets. This was the first thing I liked about him when I met him, and even today I guess this is strongest point,” explains Shilpa. Shilpa agrees that the way to a man’s heart is through gastronomical delights and thus is learning cooking full time. “Both of us are non-vegetarians and thus it won’t be a problem. I plan to cook for my husband regularly. I am really looking forward to it,” says a shy Shilpa.
