In a move that is set to catapult it to stardom in India, Virgin Produced has partnered with Cinema Capital Venture Fund and Tantrik Group to launch Virgin Produced India (VPI), a venture that will create content for the fast-growing Hindi-speaking population.
VPI that would be based in Mumbai intends to be a full-service operation that will develop, produce and distribute Bollywood films and remake Hollywood content for Indian audiences.
Virgin Produced launched in 2010, has made such films as the Bradley Cooper-Robert De Niro-starrer Limitless, as well as the Gerard Butler-starrer Machine Gun Preacher and the comedy Movie 43.
“We know how to reach a younger demographic,” said Jason Felts, Founder & CEO of Virgin Produced. “And we are going to take our unique and successful business model and expand it in Bollywood and throughout India,” he added.
VPI’s partner Tantrik Group happens to be a Los Angeles-based media and entertainment asset management firm while Cinema Capital Venture Fund, the biggest movie-funding company in India has been responsible for distributing hits like Dabangg 2 and the current hit Krrish 3.
“With our experience and extensive network in Indian entertainment and media businesses, and Virgin’s knowledge of creative content, we can make Virgin Produced India a huge success,” averred Cinema Capital India’s managing director Samir Gupta.
Jasbinger Mann, founder of the Tantrik Group will serve as the managing partner of VPI.
