On May 11th and 12th 2013, Whistling Woods International presents ‘Cinema 100 – The Next Wave’, a two-day extravaganza that explores the growth of Indian cinema over the next 100 years.
Speaking on the initiative, Ms. Meghna Ghai-Puri, President – Whistling Woods International, said “We are very glad to be organizing Cinema 100 once again. Last year, we had a tremendous response from the Indian film industry who made it a point to come and engage with the students in their endeavors to honor Indian cinema. Cinema 100 was such a success that we decided to celebrate it every year. This year, we look at where Indian cinema is poised to go over the next 100 years. With a fantastic line-up of workshops and celebrity panels, CINEMA 100 – The Next Wave promises to be a spectacular event. ”
A special treat for cinema enthusiasts, Cinema 100 – The Next Wave will feature celebrity panel discussions, thrilling interactive workshops, a visual journey of rare exhibits, posters and artifacts, special screening of award winning student films and a musical grand finale on each day. Special highlights of this year’s festival include an exclusive screening of ‘Bombay Talkies’, rare children films, an interactive Film Appreciation Workshop for kids, Unity of Faith film competition, an anti-piracy workshop, and a special workshop by Amrit Gangar on the fortitude of Indian cinema.
Cinema 100 began in 2012, wherein Whistling Woods International was one of the first institutions to commence the centenary celebrations of 100 years of Indian Cinema. Over a thousand Whistling woods students and alumni came together to celebrate 100 glorious years of Indian cinema. Whistling Woods International hosted a blockbuster three day film festival which saw renowned names from the film and entertainment industry attend panel discussions, conduct workshops, exhibitions, movie screenings and participate in iconic performances.
The three day mega film festival was graced by industry legends like A. R. Rahman, Gulzar, Sukhwinder Singh, Randhir Kapoor, Saroj Khan , Jackie Shroff, Kiran Shantaram, Rinki Roy Bhattacharya (Bimal Roy's daughter), Rakeysh Mehra, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Amole Gupte, Zoya Akhtar, Ketan Anand, Govind Nihilani, CK Muralidharan, Rajeev Masand, Rohit Shetty, R. Balki, Habib Faisal, Khalid Mohammed, Sangeeta Shankar, Dhanush, Rohit Roy, Ronit Roy, Isha Sharvani, Hema Malini and Anu Malik .
