If you’ve long waited for the beauty queen to pack a punch in her acting, here’s your prayer being answered.
As Dalbir Kaur, she is powerful and passionate in equal measure. Even though the story is about Sarbjit Singh, the trailer focuses on Dalbir’s fight to bring her brother back home. Her transformation from a happy and carefree girl to an old and frustrated woman is commendable.
Randeep Hooda, as Sarbjit, is also equally brilliant….giving a fine edge to his performance. He is ably supported by Richa Chadda, who plays his distraught wife.
The trailer is peppered with powerful dialogues, genuine emotions, neat flashbacks and superb acting. There’s a particular scene where a greying Ash says, “Tum log peeth par waar karna seekhe ho par hum Hindustani peeth dikhane walon main se nahi.”

The film, directed by Omung Kumar, stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Dalbir Kaur, Randeep Hooda as Sarbjit, Richa Chaddha as Sukhpreet and Darshan Kumar as Awais Sheikh. It’s set to release on May 20.
