A fresh start to the New Year and Zee is ready with its new candidate to join the TRP race. We're talking about its brand new daily, Maayka - a story about three daughters and their family, which is positioned for the prime time 8.30 slot and will go on air from 15th January. It also marks the comeback of Neha Bamb post her maiden show Kaise Yeh Pyar Hain. And as obvious she's very excited about it, "I am playing the youngest daughter in the show and the story captures the emotions of a family that has to see the daughter going to a new home. It's not the usual saas bahu saga where the story doesn't move beyond the usual skirmishes. Our story is more about the pain of separation from a girls and parents point of view. I had a great time shooting for the show and am awaiting the response of the audiences." The show also boats of some established television and regional film personalities like Sudhir Pandey, Nandita Puri, Urmila Kanitkar and Aarti Singh. Speaking on the launch of the serial, Ashwini Yardi, Programming Head Zee TV, said, "We have always taken up subjects that establish a strong connect with the viewers. Take Betiyann, Dulhann, Kasamh Se, Saat Phere, all deal with a pertinent issue. The theme is such that it brings us closer to the viewers. With Maayka, we are talking about the strong emotional bond that every daughter shares with her maternal home after her marriage." Ashvini further added, "The setting is that of a Punjabi family who is well settled. Brij Mohan is a traditional Punjabi businessman played by Sudhir Pandey and has Nandita Puri playing the part of his wife Moni Malhotra. Both are absolutely seasoned names in the circuit and are hugely popular with the audiences." Will Zee accomplish in touching the chord with it's audience? Looking at the hype generated by some of its recent shows, the channel definitely seems to know the trick of the trade!
