Kashmiri TV actors appeal to help flood victims
Kashmir is heaven. It’s jannat on Earth. But the region has been hit by one of the worst flood situations ever. The snow clad mountains and the green meadows are all inundated, leaving people helpless and scared. The devastating and dreadful deluge has brought life to a standstill in the state. There is no doubt that army officers are doing a great job to recue people from the misfortune. But we can also do our bit to lessen the woes. We can donate and help the Government provide necessary supplies to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Tellychakkar.com spoke to few television actors who hail from Kashmir and they appealed to one and all to help the flood victims. Iqbal Khan: It feels bad that trouble has doubled for Kashmir people. My parents and sister still live there and by God’s grace they are all safe now. For three days I could not contact them due to network jam. I could not sleep thinking in what state my family and friends would have been. From the past 20 years they all have been suffering a lot and now this extra burden. When I got to know about the flood news I just thought of flying down there. But that was not possible as the areas are all blocked and flooded. Houses are destroyed and many people have lost their family members. I appeal to everyone to pray and if possible help them in their own ways. Mohit Raina: It is very sad indeed. I never imagined that in a matter of few hours a city like Kashmir would get devastated. When the flooding started my family was in the house and water reached the second floor. For six days the situation remained the same. Luckily, they had food to eat which helped them stay conscious. I would applaud our army officers for doing such a tremendous job. Hope to see Kashmir back being the heaven on Earth. I would appeal people not to panic and trust army officers. Spread love and unity. Ekta Kaul: Well, my parents stay in Jammu so they are quite safe but I have lot of friends and family staying in Kashmir who are badly affected with the disaster. They have lost their houses and other belongings. I have my few local friends there and army officers are helping everyone to get out safe. The most depressing part is that pregnant women have no shelter and food to survive. Hence I would request people to help in their own way and join hands to support Kashmiris. Aly Goni: Thankfully my parents had left Jammu before the calamity struck. But sadly my mom’s side family got stuck for five days. We could not contact them as phone lines were dead. There are many people who have lost their family members. They have lost everything and there is no hope to live. Basic needs like food, shelter and clothing are not with them. I feel bad for them and hence I am collecting donation from my friends, family and co-stars which I will send to concerned persons in Kashmir. Mansoor Dar: Situation is pretty bad. One of the most heartbreaking and alarming misfortunes the region has ever faced. People are left helpless with no food to eat. More than six to seven lakh Kashmir citizens are still stuck and only a lakh have been rescued. It has been more than eight days since the flooding and water level is yet to recede. Government has managed to reach at certain parts of the region but what about the other areas were people are still trapped and helpless. I would request everyone to pray and help them in any possible way. Let’s put out our best human side and console them. Other than Government I would also appeal to Bollywood stars to come out in support. Seeing them normal people will also too take the plunge.
