Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year will receive some foreign competition at the box office this Diwali. Ben Affleck starrer Gone Girl is slated to release in India on 23 October along with the above movie.
This mystery thriller film is an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's extremely popular novel by the same name.
Gone Girl released worldwide on 3 October and has reportedly been riding on tremendously positive reviews from critics many of whom have labelled it as David Fincher's best work to date. With the film had an outstanding opening of $37.5 million in the US (No. 1), the stakes look pretty high and positive before its Indian release.
Vijay singh, CEO, Fox star studios says, “The level of interest of Gone Girl in India is very high, given Ben Affleck's popularity and David Fincher's credibility with films like The Social Network and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Even the book is extremely popular in India, and we're very proud to present the film in India as Fincher has envisaged it."
The movie tells the story of Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) who on his fifth wedding anniversary reports that his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior makes everyone ask Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
Let's wait and see if Gone Girl will lure audience this Diwali.
