Promo Review: Sony TV's Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane

Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane

Time and its slow passage change everything. New generation takes over older ones, sophisticated technology obliterates traditional ones, and new fashion statements replace obsolete ones. But one thing that has stood the test of time and tide is Love. Be it love for one's parents, sweetheart or kids, love is all conquering.

Sony Entertainment Television’s new serial Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane will take the viewers back on a joyride where love promises to be the all encompassing feeling. And the channel has managed to coax television's biggest superstar Ram Kapoor to emerge out of his brief hiatus to lead their flagship show which will undoubtedly air on prime time.

The much loved Ram has been pitted opposite the talented Gurdeep Kohli and the duo will be seen stitching together some mature love moments on the small screen. The just released promo is heart wrenchingly captivating to say the least. The story moves into a flash back where a desolate Ram is shown remembering the happier times spent with his wife Gurdeep with the mellifluous tunes of Aashiqui 2 playing in the backdrop. From playfully nudging a heavily pregnant Gurdeep with a fake bump to gifting her a new apartment to professing his unending love for her by wearing a tee with her picture splashed over it, Ram is the ultimate dream husband, the prince charming every girl wishes to marry.

But as they say, good times never last for long. Tragedy strikes in the form of a terminal illness which grips Gurdeep leaving her bedridden. The accompanying medications and chemotherapy that she undergoes strips her of her beautiful youth leaving her bald and Ram crestfallen. As a husband and also as a father of two kids, Ram now faces the grave situation of taking care of his ill wife and kids single handedly. Grief stricken he is seen in the hospital where the mere sight of a bald Gurdeep lying helpless on the hospital bed shatters him. Will his eternal love bring Gurdeep back from the clutches of death? Will love cure and conquer death itself? Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane will reveal that and much more.

Ram seems to be in top form in the serial while shifting skillfully between portraying a gamut of emotions ranging from love to grief, joyful drama to melodrama. Gurdeep is charming as ever, playing the quintessential loving wife to the hilt as the promo suggests. However, it’s her bald look that is sure to spring a surprise and her performance thereof which will tug at audience’s hearts. And given the seasoned actor that she is, there is not even an iota of doubt that she will be able to pull off this feat with collective ease.

For Indian audiences who have often longed to see a good mature love story, Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane looks to be the answer. And with Mahesh Bhatt supervising this love story (produced by Guroudev Bhalla and Dhaval Gada), we don’t think you need any more convincing to watch this one.  The show will go on air soon.
