Amarr Upadhyay turns cop in CID

Amarr Upadhyay finally has another show in his kitty! He will soon join the CID team as an officer on special duty. The episodes will be aired in May. "Amarr's name was in my mind for sometime. We wanted to cast someone who's not been lately over exposed. Since his show, Viraasat is yet to come he was a good option. Moreover, he's become thinner and he's tall and looking fresh now," says supervising producer, CID, Yash Patnaik , who's made it a habit now to spring surprises as far as casting is concerned.

Amarr himself was a very peculiar choice, and that's perhaps something that drew the team towards him. "He's played a son, husband and father, but never a cop. So this is different from what he's done in the past. He jumped at our offer and BP Singh too was game for it. We are now looking at Amarr's role as a cameo, but we might extend it if it turns out well," laughs Patnaik. "It's a very interesting, exciting and amazing role! I'm all geared to play the character. I play an IAS officer in Viraasat and that's kind of similar....When the show was offered to me, I thought why not? I will be joining the CID team as a special investigator, an ACP and will work on a case that needs technical knowledge," says an excited Amarr. Amarr who's worked previously in Fireworks' Aahat went into oblivion when he quit Kyunki...but the man seems to have bounced back with a vengeance with both Viraasat and CID being high profile shows!
