Sex is saleable because it's a taboo: Radhika Apte

Actress Radhika Apte, who will be seen in "Hunterrr", says sex is a saleable subject in films, because society considers it a taboo.

The actress, whose forthcoming film is about a sex addict, told IANS: "It (sex) is saleable and it's a taboo also, so it has an odd place in our county. I think sex is saleable because there is a taboo."

As far as "Hunterrr" is concerned, she says that while the posters and trailer of the film, may suggest that it is a sex comedy, but it's otherwise.

"It's a sweet love story and a simple film. Because of the posters and trailers, people feel it's a sex comedy or an adult comedy, but it's a very simple film. Everybody can relate to this film," she said.

Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, the film features Gulshan Devaiah in the lead role.

Radhika is currently riding high on the plaudits she has earned for her performance in "Badlapur". She feels the success tastes sweeter because she wasn't expecting the kind of response she has received.

"The response for my work in 'Badlapur' has been positive. I was not expecting people will notice my work. Many people messaged me, and it was very overwhelming."
