For the last four years, Himmanshoo Malhotra has been welcoming Lord Ganesh at his place. With the Ganpati festivities starting from today, we got talking to the man about his association with Gannu.
“I had always wanted to keep Ganpati at my place. But during the initial years, everyone is so busy trying to settle their life and career that it gets difficult. Also since there is no one in the house to take good care, I waited. And now it is our fifth year that we will welcome Ganpati home. My mom has also flown from Delhi and along with Amruta (Khanvilkar), they are taking care of everything,” said Himmanshoo.
Talking about the theme, the actor shared, “I don’t know as I am really busy shooting for ‘Roshni’ at this point of time. My family is looking after it but I am sure we will do something really beautifully this time too.”
The one and a half day festival at his home would also see a volley of sweets and delicacies. “I let go my diet completely and enjoy bundi ke ladoo, kaju katli and barfi,” smiled the dimpled actor.
Sharing the significance of the Ganpati festival, Himmanshoo said, “Every year I follow Ganpati festival. Dancing in my building and streets while Visarjan, is very enlightening and fascinating (smiled). This occasion is where everyone comes to meet you at your place and you get to know about each other’s life. It’s a beautiful celebration.
When we quizzed the actor on his wishes from Lord Ganesh he smiled to answer, “Let the wishes be completely be in my heart (laughs). I think one of my wish has already been completed when I won ‘Nach-Baliye’. I prayed for the win and all the efforts have been beautifully paid off so one wish has already been completed. He has already given us a lot and we are very happy and content with it.”
And finally sharing his Ganpati memory from past, Himmanshoo shared, “There had been a small ‘Nach-Baliye’ kind of concept six years back organized in my society. Amruta and I had performed in the event and felt extremely happy and ecstatic with the fact that we performed the best.”
Wish you a happy Ganesh Chaturthi!!!
