Vijay Subhramaniam, Vice President of Disney India

The mastermind behind Bindass channel is a dreamer whose ream of fantasy has been translated into mindboggling reality.
Meet Vijay Subhramaniam, the Vice-President and Head of Content & Communication, Disney India, who has, with brains, ambition and smartness has transformed Bindass channel into one of the most popular youth based channels of the nation.

The channel is known for churning out youth based contents and speaking about the same, Vijay stated, “We mostly address the burning questions that the young people have on their mind. Issues like social relationships, confessions and proposals, are indeed important for the young minds and we try to deal with such issues. Exploring themes like freedom, dilemma of making choices, we are sure that one can relate to our content, as all of us have been through that phase once.”

As the channel has three new ventures lined up, the very first is Sun Yaar Try Maar, the latest installment of Yeh Hai Aashiqui. Speaking about which, Vijay commented, “The show is not about living happily ever after, but about the journey of such a love story. The series will deal with the failures and fears of rejection of the youth, which all of us have faced at certain point in our life.”

Coming to his next two ventures, Tu Con Mein Con and Kota Toppers, Vijay stated, “These two series again will be two new concepts and Kota Toppers will be our first sitcom. We believe that it is high time that we present some sitcom to our audience.”

Believer of the fact that his shows are watched across urban and rural areas, Vijay said, “The fact that the difference between the small town and urban audience has gradually diminished is evident from the viewership pattern. After all, the feelings and emotions that the youth of a metropolitan city will feel is no different from that of the small town teens. Hence, our programmes are viewed across both zones.”

Before signing off, Vijay mentioned that the channel is planning to extend the show slots.
