We have recently reported about the completion of 300 episodes of Aakash Aath’s ‘Tobu Bandhi Khelaghar’. The serial is going fantastic, and we got in touch with talented actress Nayana Palit, who is essaying one of the leads.
At length, she talked about the reasons responsible for the success of the show, her journey, love life and more.
Excerpts:
You are playing one of the lead roles in Tobu Bandhi Khelaghar and recently the serial completed 300 episodes? How does it feel?
It feels great. The set has become our fun zone. We enjoy so much that the director (Arindam Basu) says it has become a circus and he is the ring leader (laughs).
According to you, what are the reasons behind its success?
I feel the story and our performances are the two main reasons behind its success. Our onscreen roles have involved our viewers with the story. They feel we are one of them.
You have worked in many serials and presently enacting important roles in two serials (Tobu Bandhi Khelaghar and Tumi Ele Tai). As an actress how satisfied are you with your work?
I am satisfied with my work, but I am open to new challenges.
Who inspired you to become an actress?
Actually, it’s not about a person; it’s the entire process of acting that inspired me to pursue this career. After my first project Ekhane Akash Neel, I completely fell in love with this profession. The way the technicians work, the way we portray our characters which might be completely different from us and we might not believe them...everything attracted me.
Okay...so, how did you bag your first acting project?
After completing my Masters in English, I was clueless about my career. Then one fine day an offer came via a friend to play a role in a drama for Calcutta Performer (theatre group). I gave a nod to the offer as I had no fear of the stage owing to my dance experiences. After this, Ekhane Akash Neel came along my way and then there was no looking back.
What kind of roles would you like to portray in the future?
I would like to play different challenging roles. It can be any role but has to be performance oriented. I would not prefer to see myself as a mere prop in a show contributing nothing concrete.
What is your biggest strength? In it the competitive world of acting that keeps you going?
My belief in myself. If I have the faith and if I am convinced by my belief, I move ahead without thinking about the competition. My performance matters to me most not the competition.
Who is your best friend from the industry?
My would-be, Sougata Bandhopadhyay.
Okay...share with us how did you guys meet and who proposed?
We were friends for a very long time and fell in love during the days of Ranga Mathay Chiruni. However, we never expressed our feelings to each other. Then one day he asked me to accompany him in buying jewellery for his sister. In the jewellery store he chose a payel (anklet) and asked me to try so that he can see how it looks. When I tried he surprised me by asking “Would you spend your whole life with me?”(smiles shyly). And since then we are together...
When are you planning to tie the knot?
In February of 2016.
Tellychakkar.com wishes the lady and her would-be a wonderful life ahead.
