Your fitness mantra
My fitness mantra is very simple. I don't listen to my body, when my body asks for rest I beat it to the core with workouts. When it's asking for workout I give it rest... So it's simple that I am the boss.
Your diet routine includes...
My diet routine includes various varieties which contains high amount of protein. I believe to cook by myself, whether veg or non-veg and create something new for myself. I eat everything; I am not cranky when it comes to eating vegetables.
For how long have you been working on your body?
It's been more than 10 years that I am working on my body. I started working out when I was 17. My dad used to take me to the "Akhada" in old Delhi when I was very young. So one day I realized it's in my blood. From that day I took it seriously and it has never stopped.
Tell us how you got motivated?
My first transformation and achievement was when I prepared myself in the gym for Roadies 4. Though I was selected in Roadies 3, I couldn't make it to the finals. So one day I realized, "Kuch nahi kiya or select Ho Gaya to Kyu na Kuch karlu or achche se select hota hu" Finally I got the chance in the finals, and there was Raghu saying :- what have you done to yourself? Impressive change!!
If you miss hitting the gym, what do you do?
Well, as I told you, I don't listen to my body. So If I believe in giving rest to gym activities, I do free hand workout like jogging, brisk walking, cycling. I stay on the 12th floor, and I don't prefer going by lift. I sometime take for a long walk from Andheri to town, or carry a bag full of bricks and walk for more than 10 kms. I have also asked people weighing 50kg to sit over my back and help me to do my push-ups. I also do the reverse running on treadmill with weights in my hands. Basically my friends call me ‘Mad’ (smiles).
What is your weight right now?
My weight was 85 kg couple of months back. But I had to cut down as I am doing a film on football where I am playing a captain. So I am 70kg now; I lost 15kg in three months. I have been maintaining it.
Your inspiration to maintain a perfect physique..
My inspiration is my mirror because when I look at myself, I praise as well as abuse myself. I believe in doing experiments with my looks. You need to have the right knowledge and fire within you to keep you motivated.
Do you have a 6 pack ab?
Yes, I do have 6 packs abs. Actually we all have abs; the reason why it's not visible on everybody is because of their own rival, their "Tongue". My suggestion is you need to have a control in life, but your tongue doesn't allow you to do that when it comes to the taste or junk food. So think 100 times on what you provide your body.
Is proper body a must in today’s time?
It's not the matter of carrying a proper body in today's time, it's about your health also. It shows how concerned you are for your body. There is a saying, your body is your temple . No matter how busy you are, no matter if you can't afford a fancy gym, what matters the most is that you are taking care of your body with the right amount of meal & workout.
What will your advice be for youngsters who aspire to remain fit?
My advice for youngsters is that there is no harm in taking help from trainers or experts, but just don't completely depend on it. Listen to them, but judge and decide on your own because at the end of the day, it's your body and your money. Life is just a one time offer, use it well.
Your dream will be...
My dream is to open a place which is not exactly a gym, but a place to keep yourself fit. A place where everyone is allowed to come with affordable fee of passion and fire, where I would like them to work with their fear of not keeping fit. I would like to present and see India as a country where all Indians, every alternate guy or girl is not a bodybuilder but a completely fit person.
What are the do’s and don’ts to remain slim, sleek and fit?
Forget about the do's & don’ts. You just need to make your will strong to overpower the things which do not allow you to keep fit. You have to keep one thing in mind that your hard work, your right meal, your passion, your dedication will give you the results. In my language, I call it "Tapasya".
