Supreme Court dismisses petition against Salman Khan

The Supreme Court today has dismissed a petition seeking probe into Salman Khan’s acquittal. The actor and his family were accused of using money to secure his release by the victim’s relatives. The Maharashtra Government had appealed to the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s verdict. The Supreme Court extended the hearing of the 2002 hit-and-run case to 12 February. The victim’s kin argued that the Bombay High Court had made a serious error in reversing the trial court’s order that had sentenced the actor five years imprisonment. A bench led by Justice JS Khehar termed the plea as a wild allegation without any basis, and said that the main controversy regarding the acquittal is already being solved. News reports state that ML Sharma, a Delhi lawyer had urged the court to take judicial note of Salman’s father Salim Khan’s claim of spending over 25 crore on the case. The lawyer also claimed that it was a hint from Salim about using the huge amount to influence various authoriries in acquitting Salman. However, the bench said that these are wild allegations and the amount was spent on lawyer’s fees. “Where have they said they purchased anyone?” the bench asked. We really wonder how long this case will make headlines. Stay hooked to Tellychakkar.com for we promise to keep you updated more on all the exclusive dopes from the world of TV and Bollywood.
