No one is a saint in Bigg Boss: Vinod Kambli

Vinod Kambli
There was a time when people knew Vinod Kambli as one of the most talented cricketers in the country. Unfortunately, soon after, people started knowing him as a 'brat', someone who courted controversies more often than not. For more than a decade he was completely out of media attention, save an odd mention here and there. A dance show followed, which did nothing for him. But his revelations on Sach Ka Saamna brought the focus back on him and gave him a non-existent political career. He recently had a brief stay in Bigg Boss 3. The cricketer-turned-television-star was evicted from the Bigg Boss house last weekend. TellyChakkar spoke to him hours after his eviction. Excerpts from an interview: The meaning of a 'good shot' has changed for Vinod Kambli. You seem to be doing more reality shows? (Smiles) Yes. I have participated in reality shows like Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina, Sach Ka Saamna and now Bigg Boss. Bigg Boss had offered me earlier too, I never took it seriously. But after watching the first two seasons, I wanted to experience staying inside the house with so many strangers, while completely cut off from the rest of the world. Do you regret your decision? No. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime. I am not sure how much was shown, but I enjoyed doing the household chores in there. Since I am a no-nonsense guy, it was difficult for me to see some of the inmates behaving strangely. I wanted to teach them a lesson, but somehow controlled myself. In fact, I would even say that all the contestants have two sides to their character. No one is a saint. All of them are playing a game. If I have learnt something in the Big Boss house, it is how to criticise others! Why do you think you were evicted within two weeks? It's simple. I am not a controversial person, am not into backbiting. For a good TRP,you need both of that. I did my best to survive, but I guess 14 days was good enough for me. Given a chance,I could have done a lot more. I want to thank all the inmates for being nice to me. Do you think if you were inside the house from the beginning, you stood a better chance? I don't know, but it was very challenging for me to enter the house midway. Though the contestants welcomed me with open arms, I knew they were not too happy about it. May be in their place, even I would have done that. Will you agree to a wild card entry? Why not? This time I went as a cricketer. Next time, I will go as a politician. How was the experience of interacting with the Big B? Awesome! I don't know how to describe it. I have looked up to him as my idol for a long time and interacting with him was like talking to my father. I had a very emotional interaction with him. The way he helps people open up is akin to confessing in front of a priest. He is fantastic. What was your most memorable moment as a housemate? When Sachin Tendulkar completed 20 years in the game, Bigg Boss sent me a gift. It was an old photograph of Sachin. The photograph brought back many childhood memories. Of late, the thought of playing with Sachin for one last time -- may be in IPL or in any other tournament -- has been crossing my mind very often. I have retired from international cricket, but I want to play with him once again. You have already started working out? You have lost weight? Oh yes! I have lost almost 7 kgs. Guess it is because of the healthy diet and workouts that I have been doing. Staying in Bigg Boss house definitely helped. Someone even ate my piece of cake from the fridge without telling me. (Laughs) It became so bad that when Bigg Boss sent a cake to celebrate Dara Singh's birthday,I licked my piece and kept it in the fridge, lest anyone ate it!
