Rajeev, The Player now on Channel V

TellyChakkar had earlier reported that MTV’s Raghu Ram, the one whose middle name is ‘rude’ and who thought nothing before reducing the Roadies contestants to tears during the auditions will no longer be a part of the show’s seventh season. And now his twin brother Rajeev Laxman who is associated with Colosceum Media, the maker of Splitsvilla too has decided to venture outside MTV. Laxman is ready with his show The Player which will air on the rival channel V.
According to our sources, “Rajeev is the creator and the host of The Player, which will air on Channel V. There will be 10 contestants and the winning amount is one crore. Apparently, there will be no eviction in the show and the contestants will have to perform tasks and one of them will emerge as the winner after completing a series of tasks throughout the show.” Talking about the show, Laxman says, “The concept is different and unique. I am not the host of the show as a host is someone who talks to the camera and the audience. Here we talk to the contestants on the eviction and the tasks they undertake. It would be more of a mental gruelling session.” Explaining his decision on venturing outside MTV, he states, “I had quit MTV some three years ago. My production house Colosceum Media was associated with the channel in the business aspects and we will continue that. My relationship with MTV is emotional than just business. MTV also provides shows outside the channel, so can we.” Have the recent controversies regarding Roadies resulted in the decision of him looking out for greener pastures? “Every show generates some or the other controversy. I personally avoid such controversies and we try to clarify our stance whenever the need arises. In the recent past so many things have surfaced in the media but it didn’t bother us much,” says he. Laxman’s company is also planning to launch new shows in the near future. Says he, “We are in talks with major GECs with regards to new projects but it’s too early to talk about it.”
