It’s Rabindra Jayanti today. The day is celebrated as a cultural festival in the remembrance of Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary. He is the pride of Bengalis and his stories are close to their heart. Time and again his stories have been adapted into films and television shows. It’s almost every Bengali actor’s dream to play the iconic characters of his stories.
So, remembering his birthday, Tellychakkar.com got in touch with a few Bengali actors to know which of Tagore's character would they like to star in. Read to know what they said-
Neel Bhattacharya: It has to be ‘Shesher Kobita’. Amit is the character that I would really love to play. The romance through poems with Labannya is something that really excited me.
Mishmee Das: Well it's already been made, Chokherbali. It’s one of my favourite stories. Binodini is my dream character. Also there's this dance drama called Shyama. I've already played Shyama once but I would love to do it again.
Gourab: I would like Shesher Kabita to be made into a film or TV show. And I would like to play the character of Amit Ray, the barrister.
Amila Sadhukhan: Rabindranath is my love. Sometimes I wish if I were born during the time of Rabindranath then the first thing that I would have done is touch his feet. He is everywhere. I don’t get much time to read but I have read a few books by him during school and just by reading those books I fell in love with him. Right now the books that I remember include The Lost Jewels, Postmaster, Chuti and The Broken Nest. The story of Postmaster touched my heart. I would really love to be Ratan if the postmaster is Rabindranath Tagore.
Raj Bhattacharyya: It’s Chokherbali and I would love to play Bihari Babu.
Happy Rabindra Jayanti!!
