"Whenever I think back of past, it brings back so many memories" - Steven Wright.

"Ye un dino ki baat hai, jab ishq saccha hua krta tha..." An era of its own, a beauty not capable of describing in words, was what the time of 90s can be summed up in short. The close knit families, watching Ramayana and Chitrahar with family on weekends, listening songs from borrowed cassettes and the absence of smart phones and other technologies is what is said to be the highlight of that time. All of which is somewhat absent in today's fast paced life.

But here we have the beautiful show Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai (YUDKBH) which is giving us all those lost fond memories wrapped in silk paper.

Every girl watching it is Naina seeing Sameer as their own. That is the power of how much realist this show is.

Set in the backdrop of 90s, YUDKBH is a mesmerising nostalgia to the people who lived that era. This show is a perfect blend of romance, family, friendship, culture and the apt amount of drama. From the costume to the food, from the celebrations to the habits, everything is as real as it could get. It deals with the feelings of first love of teenagers, Sameer and Naina. It has the same dysfunctional family that though fights at times but stays together, eats together and prays together. Not just the beautiful romance, it portrays the real friendship so amazingly alongside the sisterhood, it emphasizes on how much family and its values are important to people. The heavy Landlines, PCO, cycling to school, loose trousers and salwar kameez, having mouth and eyes wide open on seeing a girl and boy nearby, together…this show has it all. The innocence of Naina or the charm of Sameer, the crazy but ready to die for friends in the form of Munna Pandit, Swati and Preeti. It's all real. The sweet salty bond of Chachaji and taiji. The always strict Tauji and the loving Chacha-cum-friend. The respect for elders and the teacher is god ideology, it presents you with all.

All the characters are as beautiful and important as the leads. It won't be un dino ki baat if any one of the character is not there.  The cast is extremely talented. Ashi and Randeep have mesmerised us with their explosive chemistry and the love expressed through eyes without laying a finger on the other. They don't, their eyes talk.

Never had I ever seen any actor having this much powerful and expressive eyes. They make us feel as if we are experiencing it with them. Naina made us fall in love with Sameer along with her. Sameer made us feel the guilt he carried for breaking her trust. It is not just them but us living the moments. They showed us that romance is not just physical intimacy, romance is there in drinking coke from the same bottle, romance is there in making a silly wedding card of yourself, they have taught us a hundred ways to confess love. Naina and Sameer are the poetic lovers. The most beautiful, the most innocent. Samaina is not just a ship but an emotion in itself.

Sanjay and Raghav, our Munna pandit are the epitome of best friends. Their sense of humour is impeccable.

Preeti and Naina and Swati and Preeti are the ultimate sisters; they give us bestie goals. We yearn to have our very own Preeti with us.  It would be unfair to sing praises of this show and not mention the hard work of those behind the camera. The cinematography is so realistic. No over the top grandeur. The dialogue writers have bowled us with the simple yet deep dialogues. Not just Naina's but before saying I love you, "Hamara bi dil sau bar dhadakta hai"

The dialogues leave a long lasting impression that we keep basking in for days. With light hearted content and the absence of heavy drama and because of its realistic approach, this show is so very different from every other show out there on Indian telly. The relatives like how we have in real, the restrictions on girls at that time that we all faced somewhere.

Although everything is worth mentioning in this soap, but one can't help but love the music of this show, not just the songs used, which are all from the 80s and 90s and are quite symbolic, but the title track in Kumar Sanu and Sadhnaji’s voice is so soothing and refreshing to ears.

Yeh un dinon ki baat hai is not just a show but an emotion to us all that we always want to feel. The show has made us cherish our values a little extra, taught us love all over again. It has made us appreciate friends and family more than ever, love is not just uploading a pic of your significant other in social media and type a love filled caption, love is to share the sorrow of your beloved and help them recover, it's not just long drives and candle light dinners, love is there in the signs as innocent as two taps, it's not just Skype and facetime, love is also there while talking through PCO and land-line.

Love is not just being the reason of your beloved's smile; it's the everlasting efforts to make your beloved happy.

Love is not a destination to be reached but a journey towards the togetherness that never ends.

Yeh un dino ki baat hai has redefined the meaning of love for me into something more beautiful, more pure, something that is as beautiful as prayer is. Naina and Sameer are not just characters but family now. Yeh un dino ki baat hai is not just a show but a journey now. A journey I am eager to be a part of for as long as it will be.
