Father of Jackson 5, Joe Jackson, dies aged 89

Joe Jackson, father of music legends Michael and Janet Jackson, passed away on Wednesday after he had been in hospital for terminal pancreatic cancer. He was 89.

According to a report in the BBC, that quoted a person close to the family confirming Joe Jackson's death, he died two days after the death anniversary of Michael Jackson.

Taj Jackson, Joe's grandson, also confirmed his death in a tweet.

Joe Jackson is survived by Katherine, 88, and nine of his 11 children.

"Five sons - Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael - became the Jackson 5, joined at times by younger brother Randy, who also pursued a solo career.

"Three daughters - LaToya, Rebbie, and, most famously, Janet - all fashioned their own pop careers under Jackson's management, with varying levels of recognition," the report said.

According to media reports, some members of the family were unable to gain access to Joe Jackson in his final days.

"No one knew what was going on -- we shouldn't have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this," The Daily Mail quoted his son Jermaine Jackson as saying.

"We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture."

Paris Jackson recounts last moments with Grandfather Joe

Joe Jackson's granddaughter Paris has called him "one of the greatest patriarchs to ever live".

Paris posted a loving tribute to Joe on Instagram on Wednesday after the news of his death. He was 89.

She revealed that in his final moments, he was surrounded by family, with Paris by his bedside sharing stories about his son, and her father, Michael Jackson, reports people.com.

"Spending those last few moments with you was everything," Paris, 20, wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption.

"Being able to tell you everything I needed to tell you before saying goodbye was such a blessing.”

"I will cherish every moment with you till the day I die, especially our last moments. Being able to hold your hand, lay with you and cuddle you, give you kisses all over your cheeks and forehead, meant more to me than you'll ever know. Quoting advice you gave me when I was a little kid and seeing your eyes light up, sharing stories my dad used to tell me about you, telling a joke and hearing you laugh for the last time... My heart is full knowing we left each other in that way," she added.

While Joe was a controversial figure in his family, his granddaughter described him as "the first true Jackson -- the legend that started it all."

"None of us would be anywhere near where we're at if it weren't for you. You are the strongest man I know. Your life's work will go down in history, as will you, to be known as one of the greatest patriarchs to ever live," she added.

Paris said farewell to the former music manager and father of 11 by sharing a poignant photograph of her holding his hand in his final moments of life. The model also shared some photographs of Joe from his younger years.

Michael's daughter vowed to make sure that Joe is "never forgotten" and asked that he make good on his promise to her -- visiting her after his death.

Joe died after battling terminal pancreatic cancer.

Johansson denies auditioning to date Cruise

Actress Scarlett Johansson is firing back at "demeaning" claims that she once auditioned to be Tom Cruise‘s girlfriend.

The actress, 33, is denying the claims made by Brendan Tighe, a former Scientologist who appeared on Megyn Kelly Today on Wednesday claiming he came across reports of multiple women who auditioned to be in a relationship with the actor following his split from Nicole Kidman, reports people.com.

"The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning," Johansson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships. Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that," she said.

The Avengers: Infinity War actress is currently dating Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost.

She and Cruise dated from November 2004 to January 2005.
