She has Bollywood on her mind. But right now the pretty looking Aalesha Sayed who is playing Sharbati in Phulwa is happy playing her part in the show.
“I have got a wide range to experiment with. First, I played a dumb girl wearing only salwars. Then my character got married to Chotte Thakur who is killed by the lead girl. She is a widow but dresses well in funky saris with modern hair-dos till she gets her revenge,” says Aalesha. “In her new avatar she has entered Phulwa’s gang and dresses up in simple cotton saris but she has to emote through her eyes.”
Alaesha believes that the time is ripe for her to transit to Bollywood. “I have no qualms about doing bold roles or wearing revealing clothes as long as it goes with the script and character,” she says. “Look at Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture. She is so bold, but she is being appreciated so much.”
She points out that she has already done bold roles in the past. She elaborates: “I have even seduced a man in one of the regional films which I did before I entered TV with Hindi Hai Hum on Real TV. I essayed the part of a mini skirt wearing bar dancer. She is a very beautiful girl who comes to learn Hindi but when she opens her mouth she becomes a Rakhi Sawant.”
Aalesha who is better known as the Sati Savitiri Purva of Behenein is currently doing the rounds of film production offices, trying to meet the right people.
She is also working on keeping her body in shape. “It is every important to be toned up before such roles lest people complain that you have a bad figure. One needs to look sexy in both Indian (sari) and western (bikini) costumes.“
Her favourite attire is the eternal Indian draping garment – the sari. “I love it…you can be covered from top to toe and yet look sensuous as the sari shows all your curves in all their glory,” she says. “Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor look so hot in one.”
Her choice of directors: Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Madhur Bhandarkar, as “these guys knows how to present a woman.”
She agrees that there is a casting couch in the industry “but nobody forces you. It all depends on what kind of image you want to give.”
