When he speaks, everyone listens. For he has a baritone that enchants you. As I M Virani of Colors’ Mukti Bandhan, he impressed the critics and masses alike. Yes, we are talking about the noted thespian, Shiv Subrahmanyam. But he has something to share with his fans regarding Mukti Bandhan going off air. “I don’t really know what happened. Channel officials said that TRPs were low, but till date people come up to me and praise the show. I was really sad when I heard the news of Mukti Bandhan going off air. But there would have been some problem for sure. After all, people working in channels are not dumb; they are very smart when it comes to their work,” says Shiv. Shiv has many offers in his kitty but he is treading cautiously before signing anything. “I will take up something in a month’s time. I really want to do comedy and play a full-fledged comic role. People think I am too serious but actually I am a very good comedian,” informs Shiv. Well, we can’t really dispute that. He is a versatile actor. He has acted in TV, films and of course, he is one of the prominent figures in the world of Indian theatre. So which medium is his favourite? “There’s no favourite as such. Films are more relaxing and theatre is the love of my life. But I won’t follow the bandwagon and say that theatre is above all. In fact, it is a challenge to work and excel in television. The medium demands a lot. I think it is a great platform to sharpen your acting talent,” opines the master actor. Now that Shiv has free time, he is busy spending time with his family. “I just returned from Thailand. I was out holidaying there with my wife Divya and son Jahaan. We all had a great time. I actually touched a Python. It was amazing. But it didn’t do anything to me. May be it was doped,” laughs out Shiv. Finally before signing off, he leaves this message for his fans, “If you want to become an actor, just go for it. It’s the nicest profession. You will enjoy life and learn a lot.” I am sure your fans will take your advice. Have a great year ahead, Shiv!!
