Smita Singh (Punpunwali of Colors’ Bhagyavidhata) is down with back pain. The reason: she had to dance non-stop for two hours for a scene. Apparently, the situation on the sets was so funny that every time she got ready for a shot, she and her co-actors burst out laughing. The shot was complete after many takes.
The story goes like this: The show is currently focusing on how Punpunwali is teaching her sister Chotu to impress Vinay (Vishal Karwal). After trying hard many times, Punpunwali finally gives her sister a glass of milk with bhang in it. She asks her sister to make sure that Vinay has it so that the next day they can tell everyone on how Chotu and Vinay got closer at night. But till now all their attempts have failed and Vinay has instead started warming up to Bindiya.
Vinay has the milk and Chotu starts dancing to seduce him. Vinay gets to know her intentions and pushes her away; so Chotu realises that the bhaang has not affected him. On the other hand, Punpunwali is shocked to see her husband Akhilesh pushing her to dance. That he is also praising her makes her realize that it’s he who has had the bhaang and she has no choice but to dance for him. So she starts dancing in a typical Bhojpuri heroine style.
Smita says, “Yes I am down with severe back pain but I can’t tell you the fun I had shooting the dance scene. I am dancing to the song of Bindiya chamkegi and my expressions and dance steps are very funny. Akhilesh was laughing and I had to be very serious and I was unable to act right and get the correct facial expressions. Everyone was laughing on the sets and I had to be very serious and hence I gave more than 100 takes for the scene. The shooting was halted for almost two hours because I wasn’t getting the expressions right but no one complained because everyone from my producers to the spot boys pamper me. They all love me and I was not doing it purposely. They all know how I was trying my best but I was helpless. I respect my job and what I am today is because of Bhagyavidhata. I take criticism very positively and those jealous of me encourage me to work harder.”
