MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan, who has acted in films like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, My Name Is Khan and Swades, has a huge fan following. Known for his amazing sense of humour, the actor is also called King of romance and Badshah of Bollywood. His loyal fans love how he celebrates different festivals with great enthusiasm. However, the star has received backlash from a section of people for sporting Tilak on Diwali.
Well, it’s the festive season of Diwali, and several Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan have posted pictures wishing their fans a Happy Diwali. However, a section of his followers on Twitter have trolled him for sporting tilak in the photo, and Shabana Azmi has now come to his defense.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Tweet read, “#HappyDiwali to everyone. May your lives be lit up and happy.” Along with it, he posted a monochromatic picture of himself, Gauri Khan and their son AbRam sporting tilak on their foreheads. A few people slammed him and called him a fake Muslim, while a few others trolled him for it. While Shah Rukh Khan did not react to it and maintained silence on that topic, now Shabana Azmi has come to his defense. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Appalled to read that @iamsrk Diwali greeting invites wrath of rabid Islamists, gets called a “False Muslim” for sporting a tilak!”FUNDOS get a life! Islam is not so weak that it stands threatened by what is a beautiful Indian custom.Indias beauty is in her GangaJamuni tehzeeb.”
