MUMBAI: Rani Mukerji reprises her role of feisty cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2. The film has been appreciated by the audience and critics alike and sheds light on some very important subjects. In Mardaani 2, Rani Mukerji is on a hunt to chase a serial killer who rapes young girls and then murders them.
Rani has now spoken up about the rapists in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case and has expressed her opinion on the same. While talking to the media at an event of Mardaani 2, the actress said that the rapists should be severely punished and should be shown no mercy. She also added that what Nirbhaya's family must have gone through after they lost their daughter, is unimaginable. She said, ‘Mera opinion ye hi hai ki jo bhi aise kukarm (misdeed) karta hai, they should be severely punished. The girl who loses her life, and the family's condition after that and what the family goes through, it's unimaginable. That is why the rapists should be given the strictest of punishments and they don't deserve any forgiveness whatsoever. Definitely. This is my personal opinion.’
