Vikrant and Medha reunite to read a deleted scene from 12th Fail

Mumbai, 30th May, 2025 — Responding to an overwhelming public demand, Vinod Chopra Films is releasing a series of ‘Script to Screen’ videos to announce the release of the official screenplay of the critically acclaimed ‘12th Fail’.

The Script to Screen sneak peek gives audiences a glimpse into the filmmaking process — showing us the script and then showing us what finally appears on the screen. It features commentary on the evolution of scenes, creative pivots, and the collaborative choices that shaped the film. The team also shares fascinating trivia about how certain scenes came together — including moments of on-set improvisation and instinctive inputs from the actors that added unexpected depth.

One of the most striking additions is a deleted scene between Manoj (Vikrant Massey) and Shraddha (Medha Shankr) — a moment where Shraddha confesses her love to Manoj. That’s right, there was more to this pivotal moment than what made it to the final cut. In a heartfelt gesture, the actors reunited to do a reading of this scene for the release of the screenplay, which will be shared with audiences for the very first time.

Talking about his scene, Vikrant Massey said, “Reading the deleted scene with Medha brought back a flood of memories and emotions. We’re truly thrilled to share the screenplay with everyone. That day feels like yesterday, and now here we are, revisiting those scenes together — it’s surreal. This film has changed my life in so many ways, and I hope the screenplay reaches anyone who needs it today. As I read the lines, I instantly became Shraddha. While the original scene had more of her dialogues, I wholeheartedly agree with what made it to the final cut. The impact it carries now is powerful — it honestly couldn’t have been better.”

Anshumaan Pushkar, who played the beloved Gauri Bhaiya, shared “Playing Gauri was an emotionally rich journey. I connected with the roots and values of his character and somewhere his journey reminded me of my personal journey. I remember during the night scene at the Restart Tea Stall where, as per the screenplay, two characters party and drink. I had a moment where I felt — for Gauri, that place was more than just a hangout. It was like a mandir, a sacred space. I gathered courage and told the team that Gauri as a character would never allow alcohol consumption in his scared spot. And the improvisation was made in no time by team, and it ended up adding such honesty to the moment. That kind of collaborative space is rare and so fulfilling as an actor.”
