Years back Ramanand Sagar kept kids entertained with Vikram Aur Betal. The story about a righteous king ,Vikram who goes in search of a ghost, Betal. Each time he succeeds in trapping him but has to listen to a story on his way back. Well as the king heard the story, the children enjoyed the simple stories with
a moral on the small screen.
Come September and Disney television will bring a modern version of the show titled Viki Aur Vetal . Produced by Cinevistaas and directed by Suraj Rao the show will feature Vishal Malhotra, Dev, Pubali Sanyal and Kenny Desai as the main actors. Apart from these actors the show will also have a host of other actors in each episode. Viki Aur Vetal has been under production for the past one year.
"It's the first Indian production for Disney and it will be on the lines of yesteryears' popular show Vikram Aur Betal. Viki is being played by a nine year old kid (Dev) who is forever playing pranks on everyone and takes up challenges from his friends. Vishal Malhotra plays Vetal in the show. Just the character names are similar but the situations aren't similar to Vikram Aur Betal at all," says a source from the production house.
Vetal comes into Viki's life and thereon starts the adventure in their lives. Also, there's a magic spell book in the show which does all the magic.
The special effects in the show is something to look forward to besides the stories will also have a moral base to them. The set up of the show will be modern and different from the original Vikram Aur Betal.
Vishal Malhotra, who's currently seen in Star One's The Comedy Show Ha Ha Ha and has films like Dor and Salam E Ishq in hand says, "I play Vetal but beyond this I can't disclose anything else. I still don't have the liberty to talk until the channel is ready. But this is definitely going to be a special show. Also, I've been associated with the channel for almost ten years now."
So, here's a treat for all the kids and the young at heart.
