Taarak team stands up for eye donation

Well, we are sure you all remember the eye donation advertisement that Aishwariya Rai Bachchan featured in a couple of years ago. It helped the aam janta understand the importance of eye donation. Of course, it is an important cause and the star cast of Neela Telefilms’ Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is upholding it.
Producer Asit Modi, actor Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) and Disha Vakani (Dayaben) recently were present at the launch of ‘Experience Blindness’, an eye donation awareness campaign initiated by Rotary Club. In the event, people present were blind-folded and were asked to perform the day-to-day activities. And the idea behind this was for people to feel how blind people live their lives. Asit Modi shares, “After getting blind-folded we realized how difficult it is to lead a life without eyes. Things that we can do so easily in our daily life with the help of our eyesight, become not only difficult but also impossible to perform without it. So we can now imagine what these people go through.” Bubbly and chirpy Disha Vakani adds, “This entire activity definitely helped me understand the pain and frustration a person goes through without eyesight. We must not take the gift of eyes for granted.” Dilip Joshi, who is basically a philanthropist at heart, was really touched after this experience and said, “I think this experience worked better than the lectures and presentations that people usually give. The team there helped us understand the hardships faced by blind people in first person. I really respect those people who have done something in their lives in spite of being handicapped. I think donating eyes is a good deed.” Well… cheers to the Taarak team!!!
