"I think even though things seem like they're going downhill right now, any contribution we can make to the beautiful art of theatre is more than welcome. It's an art form that has sustained for years and will only continue to grow and serve as a realistic portrayal of society with unique stories," she added.

Actor and director Makarand Deshpande said "for many of us, theatre is what made us".

"Even after so many years, the wooden stage on which we flaunt our craft still excites and deepens our sense of belonging to this art form. It is only natural that in this crisis, we stand by those affected and do our bit to help them through," he added.

The stars have joined Zee Theatre's mass fundraising campaign to aid the survival of theatre.
