Virgin Bhanupriya review: A decent watch with amazing performances

Urvashi Rautela’s movie is out and here’s how the movie is. Read on…

MUMBAI: Due to the coronavirus issue all over the globe, the theatres have been shut. As a consequence, the release of Bollywood films in theatres has gone for a toss. However, considering the ongoing scenario, many have decided to release their Bollywood films right on different OTT platforms, and once such film is Urvashi Rautela’s Virgin Bhanupriya. The film has premiered today on ZEE5.

Helmed by Ajay Lohan, Virgin Bhanupriya deals with the taboo subject of virginity. Apart from Urvashi Rautela, this comedy flick also stars some amazing bunch of talents like, Archana Puran Singh, Niki Walia, Gautam Gulati, and Rajiv Gupta.

The story begins with a simple girl named Bhanupriya Awasthi (Bhanu), whose parents are separated, but she loves both of them a lot. Bhanu is desperately looking for the man of her dreams and subsequently lose her virginity. But every time she takes a step ahead her plan fails miserably, and on this journey of hunting the love of her life, her best friend Rukul (played Rumana Molla) is always with her. Bhanu meets Shatriya (played by Gautam Gulati) who is exactly like her dream man and everything seems to be alright, but the destiny is not with her this time too and there is a big surprise waiting for her. Will Bhanu defeat what is written in her destiny? Will she be able to find the love of her life? And will she remain virgin throughout her life? Well, the answers to these questions are given in this 110 minutes movie.

Talking about the screenplay, it is very much decent and it manages to hold your attention throughout the movie, but it is the poor storyline which makes you a little bored in between. The direction by Ajay Lohan is decent, too.

Speaking about the performance of the actors, acting has turned out its savior. And one name which surpasses all the stars in this comedy flick is Rajiv Gupta who plays father to Bhanu. He is amazing in the movie, and his comic timing is brilliant. Whenever he comes on screen, he will make you laugh, and on the other hand, our Bhanupriya aka Urvashi Rautela has done decent job too as a simple girl living with her separated parents. Gautam Gulati manages to attract the eyeballs through his physique, and his acting is also decent. Rumana Molla as the best friend to Bhanu is simply amazing in the movie and manages to give you few laughter moments. Archana Puran Singh and Niki Walia were also decent on their part.

Positive sides of the movie are certainly the performances of all the characters, especially Rajiv Gupta as the father of Bhanupriya. His acting is so pure and so raw and will make you laugh. Others’ acting too makes this movie a decent watch. Supporting cast specially the chemistry between Rajiv Gupta, Niki Walia, and Archana Puran Singh is too good to see in the movie. Dialogues are very powerful and manage to lighten up your mood throughout the movie.

Negatives of the movie is the weak storyline because of which at one point things look a little stretched and you find nothing more different in the movie. The screenplay is very decent, however, at some point few scenes look irrelevant.

Overall Urvashi Rautela starrer Virgin Bhanupriya which throws light on the subject of losing virginity and finding true love is a decent and average watch and may give you few laughter moments.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 2.5 stars for Virgin Bhanupriya.
