Neil Nitin Mukesh

MUMBAI: 2025: ZEE5 is set to captivate audiences with Hisaab Barabar, a thrilling drama featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh in a compelling and complex role. Directed by Ashwini Dhir, the film delves into themes of financial accountability, justice, and personal redemption, offering an engaging mix of drama, thrill, love, and betrayal. The film is set to release on January 24, 2025, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Speaking about balancing artistic integrity with audience expectations, Mukesh shared, "I’m forever grateful to my audience who have supported me throughout my career. Having worked with over a dozen national award-winning filmmakers and powerhouse studios, I believe it's about finding a balance between staying true to the story while also being mindful of the audience's expectations. Post-COVID, audience preferences have evolved—they know exactly what they want to watch in a theater versus what they’ll binge on a digital platform. The way films are made has changed drastically, and I believe if you're passionate and stay committed to your vision, the audience will respond positively. 12th Fail is a great example."

On why viewers should invest their time in Hisaab Barabar, Mukesh emphasized, "I think Hisaab Barabar is a film that will resonate with audiences on many levels. It's a gripping story with complex characters and raises important questions in an entertaining way. There is thrill, drama, love, and betrayal, all presented with an interesting dark humor that keeps viewers engaged. If you're looking for a film that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you think, then Hisaab Barabar is the film for you."

Discussing how the role pushed the boundaries of his craft, Mukesh revealed, "Playing Mickey Mehta was a challenge, but it was also incredibly rewarding. I wanted to bring something new to both the character and myself to better connect with my audience. Mickey is complex and multifaceted, and I had to dig deep to bring him to life. There was a moment when I doubted myself, but divine intervention and conviction pushed me to work harder. Working on this film allowed me to explore new depths in my craft. I sincerely thank my producers Jyoti Deshpande, Sharad Patel, Shreyanshi Patel, and co-producer Ria Singh for this opportunity."

The film’s title, Hisaab Barabar, hints at the idea of balancing the scales—a theme Mukesh believes is relevant in today's world. "I think it’s a brilliant title. I was intrigued just by hearing it. The theme of balancing the scales is incredibly relevant—we see so much inequality and injustice around us, and it’s up to each of us to do our part in restoring balance. Whether it's standing up against corruption or fighting for social justice, we all have a role to play. Hisaab Barabar is not just about tallying balance sheets, it’s also about standing up for your beliefs and fighting against injustice and corruption."

Reflecting on the most rewarding aspect of working on Hisaab Barabar, Mukesh concluded, "The most rewarding aspect was being part of a film with an important message that needs to reach a global audience. Playing Mickey Mehta—a complex and challenging character—was a true acting stretch for me, and I loved every minute of it. But beyond that, what made this experience truly special was the collaborative and supportive environment on set. I thank my director Ashwini sir for his guidance, my producers, and the entire cast and crew. It was inspiring to see everyone working towards a common goal. It’s not often that you get to be part of a film that has the potential to spark meaningful conversations and inspire change. Being part of Hisaab Barabar is an experience I will never forget, and I feel truly grateful for it."

With a compelling narrative, stellar performances, and a thought-provoking message, Hisaab Barabar is set to leave a lasting impact when it premieres on ZEE5 on January 24, 2025.
