Damini K Shetty talks about donning several hats and the changes in filmmaking since the 90's

She talks about the role which gives her maximum fulfillment

MUMBAI : Damini K Shetty is a multifaceted personality who has accomplished herself as an actor, producer, and director in theatre and on television. She talks to us about donning these many hats and which role gives her maximum fulfillment.

“Creatively, I don't think I am ever fully satisfied, I am forever looking and searching for more fulfillment as I go by. That’s why probably I have gone from being an actor to a producer, writer, and director. Theatre is my first love because I started with theatre, there is nothing like acting, producing, or directing it as it puts you directly in touch with the audience and grounds you. So, it’s hard to choose one, as I believe, every project has its excitement and gives you a sense of fulfillment at that point in time.”

Damini starred in Ramanand Sagar’s epic mythological series from the 90s, ‘Shri Krishna’ as Yashoda Maiya and later in shows such as Alif-Laila and Parampara. She also wrote, co-produced, and acted in the serial ‘Bani - Kalma Ishq Da’ for Colors TV. Damini shares what has changed in the process of filmmaking since the 90s.

“Times have changed completely, some for the good, some for the bad. Today as an actor there is a lot more competition and the challenge to prove yourself. With so many things to care about, people have it tougher today to focus on their creativity and passion. In the 90s the process of filmmaking was less fame oriented, more passion oriented, and more of a crazy need to just create. Now it’s more of a business. There was a lot of innocence then which has become very mechanical today. I just wish there was a little more passion today and things were less calculated.”
