Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story review: This financial thriller is completely worth your time

The story on the biggest financial scam in India is out with the series Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story. Here is the review.

MUMBAI: Sony Liv is back with new and exciting content. The platform has given us series like Your Honor, Avroadh and Undekhi. Now, it has launched a web series that will focus on India's biggest financial scam, the Harshad Mehta scam, and is titled Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. It is directed by Hansal Mehta and stars some amazing talent like Pratik Gandhi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Nikhil Dwivedi, Sharib Hashmi, and a few others.

Without giving much detail about the earlier life of Harshad Mehta, it starts off with how he started his journey to fulfill his big dreams, serve his family, and give them a lavish life. He goes from zero to a personality to reckon with.

The screenplay of this 10-episode series is amazing and is gripping right from the very first scene to the last. The series tries to explain the entire financial angle in simple language, so that everyone gets connected to the story. But there are a few portions where the series gets a little technical and the audiences may find it difficult to grasp the concept. The direction brilliant, and the setup of the 80s and 90s is well done.

Talking about the performances, this is an out and out Pratik Gandhi show. The actor is too good as Harshad Mehta. His acting, style, and dialogue delivery are perfect. Moreover, Shreya Dhanwanthary as Sucheta Dalalwas was good in the series. Her effort and the struggle to get the truth out in the open were nicely portrayed. The other cast like Nikhil Dwivedi, Sharib Hashmi, Satish Kaushik, and Rajat Kapoor were decent on their part.

The positives points of the series are the strong writing and screenplay, which will not let your interest waver. The performances of the leads are a treat to watch, especially Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta.

The negatives are that the series try to put the financial terms in front of audiences in a simple way, but there are few points they may fail to understand. Having said that, as the story moves ahead, things get simpler.
