Check out what R Madhavan has to say on Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein Sequel

R Madhavan speaks about what went wrong and if a sequel is possible.

MUMBAI: R Madhavan made his Bollywood debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein in 2001. It was a first in Bollywood for many including Madhavan, leading lady Dia Mirza, director Gautham Menon and music director  Harris Jayaraj. Unfortunately, the film was not  a pleasant experience for  many of the principal team-members. Apparently director Gautham Menon couldn’t get  along with Madhavan and the producer could not see eye to eye with the director. It was also not a cherishable experience for many members of the team. The film was somehow completed. But the marketing sucked.

Like the film itself, Harris Jayraj’s chartbusting songs got their due only in hindsight.

Says Madhavan “I don’t want to get into what went wrong. But yes, many things did go wrong. All of us worked really hard on the film. 19 years later Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil  Mein is still among the most favourite  films of my repertoire.”

Madhavan is  not averse  to a sequel. “I  keep getting that all the time. But is a sequel possible now? For that to happen, all of us have to be on  the same page. I’d love to take  the story forward from where we left it off 19 years ago.”

Gautam who also directed the Tamil  original Minnale, says, “I don’t at all  mind directing the sequel to Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein. If the producers ask me, I will.”
