MUMBAI: Actress Parineeta Borthakur, who features in the TV show Gupta Brothers bids goodbye to the year of the pandemic with some good and bad memories.
She reveals her fond memories for 2020 of how the environment got cleaned up due to the lockdown. She says, "The year left us with good and bad memories. Among the good memories are the lessons we have learnt that we need very less to survive. We also saw how the birds and animals came out, it was a beautiful sight. We co-exist with flora and fauna. And we realised how we have exploited the planet and it is time to start thinking about the planet, about Earth because that's the only one we have.".
Speaking of the bad memories of the year, Parineeta talks about the immeasurable loss people have suffered due to COVID-19. "Among the bad memories are how a lot of people have lost their loved ones, and have been grieving, which is very difficult. Though we say RIP or send them condolences, the ones who have lost only they know how it feels to live without their loved ones.", she expressed.
Looking ahead, she says she is walking into 2021 with hope and a pledge. "In 2021, I hope the virus goes away. We need to think about the planet now on for sure. The way we keep discarding things... not everything goes for recycling. We need to think not just about ourselves but also our children and grandchildren. We should take this pledge that we will discard plastic, adopt healthier ways to let nature breathe easily and happily.".
