Diwali, the festival of lights, crackers and sweets is back. And with it, is back our eagerness to lay our hands on our favourite delicacy. This festive season can’t be imagined without sweets; it is during this period we exchange sweets among friends and relatives. And the list of Diwali special mithais is exhaustive. They range from gulab jamun, gajar ka halwa, besan ka ladoo, karanji and jalebis among many others. Read on… Shared bold and brawny Ashish Kapoor, who is seen as Sahil in Sony Entertainment Television’s Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage, “I simply love white coloured barfi especially from Delhi and guess what… mom, who is in Delhi, is coming here; naturally she is going to bring a good lot of my favourite delicacy for me. Like every year, my parents will be sending over sweets and dry fruits to my relatives. This Diwali is very special to me because some days ago, I became an uncle of my new born nephew. So excited am I that I am going to gift him lots of toys.” Averred Sunny Goraya… who is seen as Rishabh in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, “Diwali is imperfect without sweets and delicious dishes. My favourite is the mouth watering gulab jamun. Apart from sweets, I like chivda and chakli among oily stuffs.” “Right now, I am at my in-laws’ house in Delhi. So I am going to treat myself with Delhi street food items like chaat and Chinese food,” said Ishita Sharma aka Anji from Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. Observed Karan Tacker of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, “Diwali cannot be imagined without sweets. Like every year, my parents will send sweets to my friends and relatives. I, for one, am crazy about Indian sweets. But my favourites are gulab jamun, jalebi and rabdi. But these days, I am enjoying having phirni that is very fulfilling. I also like farsans and samosas.” “The list of Diwali sweets is long and never ending and kaju katri and barfi are top in my list of priorities. Apart from sweets, I like to have puri and sabzi,” maintained Sukirti Kandpal who is seen as Jazz is Zee TV’s Rab Se Sohna Isshq. Lastly Kanan Malhotra added, “I love bundi ka ladoo. They are one among the most liked Indian sweets. For me, any special occasion is incomplete without a ladoo.” Happy Diwali to everyone!!!
