Making people laugh is a huge challenge: Saurabh Kaushik

MUMBAI: Saurabh Kaushik, who features in the comedy-horror show “Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai” (Produced by Benaiferr and Sanjay Kohli), says to tickle the funny bone of the audience isn’t a cakewalk.

For an actor, making people laugh is a huge challenge.

“As an actor you are not always in a mood to create comedy but there's a huge responsibility of people on you to entertain them.  Also, in our personal lives we may be in different moods but we have to keep those things aside and get into the scene and character and make people laugh. So it is all challenging,” he explains.

In "Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai", Saurabh essays the role of Bunty, who belongs to a rich family in UP. He comes to Delhi for his further studies but quits it later as he picks up a job at JaldiRam restaurant in pursuit of his lady love, Titli (Raashi Bawa), who is an intern there.

“I'm playing an intense lover, whatever he does he does from his heart. Somewhere this reflects in me as well, once I'm attached to a person I am wholeheartedly attached. Also, I'm very passionate about things in my life which I want to do, like how Bunty is towards Titli,” he says.

The comedy-horror show, which is a sequel to “Jijaji Chhat Parr Hai”, revolves around the rivalry between two families over claims on the ancestral property and amidst their constant fights a ghost roams around.

Talking about the pressure of recreating the success of “Jijaji Chhat Parr Hai”, Saurabh does believe there will be expectations from the audience as the first part was a huge hit.

He further says but the cast and crew are unfazed by the pressure and have rather focused on delivering their best.

Saurabh says one of the most interesting elements of "Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai" is the horror twist in it.

In real life, the actor says, as a kid he was scared of ghosts but not anymore, he rather today loves to watch horror movies.

The actor is elated with the compliments he has received for his portrayal of Bunty in the show and for this he is honoured and grateful to his producers Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli for offering him this character.

“Our producers Sanjay sir and Binaiferr ma'am are very concerned about the actors be it their health related issues or anything else. Workwise, they are a huge name in comedy shows and working with them was a pleasure,” Saurabh, who has collaborated with the duo earlier on shows like “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai”, “Jijaji Chhat Par Hai”, says.
