MUMBAI: Anusha Dandekar is an Indian actress and a former VJ who has hosted several Hindi reality shows. In her initial days of career, she was an Indo-Australian MTV VJ and a singer as well.
Hailing from a Pune-based Marathi family, Dandekar was born in Khartoum, Sudan (a country in North Africa) and has 2 sisters - actress and model Shibani Dandekar and Apeksha Dandekar. The Dandekar sisters were brought up in Kingsgrove of New South Wales, which is a suburb area of Sydney (Australia).
In 2002, Dandekar moved to Mumbai (Maharashtra) at the age of 19, to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She began her Bollywood career by anchoring MTV's House of Style and later went on to host MTV Dance Crew, MTV Teen Diva, MTV News and MTV Love School for the network. In 2014, Dandekar was seen as a judge on India's Next Top Model, alongside model-actress Lisa Haydon. In 2017, she mentored the contestants of India’s Next Top Model 3.
In 2003, Dandekar debuted in Bollywood with the movie named Mumbai Matinee and garnered immense fame for Viruddh in 2005, alongside Bollywood veterans Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Sharmila Tagore and John Abraham. In 2006, she even won the 'Best Debut Award' at the Maharashtra Times Awards for her role in this movie. In 2012, she also debuted in the Marathi film industry by being a part in the Marathi movie Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha. With time, Anusha kept bagging more films in the Hindi industry.
Anusha has also pursued modelling and has also endorsed reputed fashion brands like Reebok, Toni & Guy, Crocs and Lee Jeans.
In 2012, Dandekar debuted in the music industry with her original track 'Better Than Your Ex'. The same song's English version was released in June 2012.
Dandekar is effortlessly a fashionista both on and off-screen who spotted endorsing challenging and bold outfits which experiments with different designs and sets the floor on-fire.
