The DEBUT PROJECT under my production house, Ink Empire is a Punjabi song featuring Asim Riaz’s brother Umar and myself: Dalljiet Kaur

Ink Empire is something I have started after a lot of hardwork and dedication. My fans have been very kind throughout and I just want them to give me a fair chance.

MUMBAI: Dalljiet Kaur is one of the most recognizable faces on Indian Television today.

Few of her most appreciated roles whereas Anjali in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, Manjiri in Kaala Teeka, Karuna in Qayamat ki Raat, and recently as Antara in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega. After having enjoyed immense success with daily soap, Dalljiet also went as a contestant for Bigg Boss 13, after 4 years to finally get ready and take her hands off drama serials.

Dalljiet has established herself as one of the most versatile personalities on Indian television today.

In an exclusive conversation with Dalljiet, she spills beans about her life and her career.

She said, “I think I have been very fortunate to play extreme positive and negative roles and given that there are so many platforms now, I am very excited to see what comes along. I am looking forward to this part of my career. I am open to doing webseries also as long as the project and my part excites me and gives me a chance to explore my creativity, excites me and challenges me. I should be excited to go on the set and perform.

When asked if she would ever indulge in skin show for a role, Dalljiet shared, “I have never really understood the need for skin show, obviously certain scenes are spiced up because of the entertainment quotient but I feel that a good story can be told without skin show too. “

We asked if Dalljiet would choose to shoot in these testing times of covid-19 given that she has her son at home and this is the second wave. Dalljiet said, “I had covid and have been taking precautions to a level one cannot imagine. For me acting is my only source of income. I do not know whether or not I will be able to shoot but I have started my own production house, I have started writing and getting myself involved behind the camera also. Ink Empire is the name of my production house and we have produced a Punjabi song starring Asim Raiz’s elder brother, Umar is starring in that with me. I have also planned for a web show among a few other things but this will be the first launch. During the lockdown I have realized that I write very well and I have been encouraged by a lot of people on a very ground level. I hope to maintain a fine balance between acting and being behind the camera.”

We also asked Dalljiet about the reason behind her spelling change.

Dalljiet shared, “When I was going through a terrible marriage and divorce, I resorted to gemmology, numerology or whoever suggested something, I used to try it and then I realized that numerology actually worked for me. I am not saying that it was only because of numerology, I worked equally hard and it could probably be a perfect combination of co-incidence and faith.  God has been kind and I worked also very hard with whatever opportunities came my way with my shows.

I am constantly in touch with so many women who are going through divorce or terrible situations and the only thing I tell them is do not settle for anything that gives you less respect. Also, it is very important to be financially independent.”

As a parting note, Dalljiet expressed, “Ink Empire is something I have started after a lot of hardwork and dedication. My fans have been very kind throughout and I just want them to give me a fair chance. We all have struggled a lot in life and one does not get many opportunities so if they expect more or if there is any mistake, I would love to know what they expect through this production. I really hope Ink Empire touches the heart of my fans and the audience and they give me the love like they have been giving me throughout.”

 Well said, Dalljiet!
