MUMBAI: Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is one of the most popular television actresses. She is popular for her work in the ongoing hit soap Choti Sarrdaarni.
The actress was recently on a break. It’s rare for an actor to take a break from her debut TV show, but Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia (Femina Miss India Manipur 2018) had to make a brief exit from Choti Sarrdaarni on suffering chronic fatigue and burnout. The makers roped in Kratika Sengar to fill in for her. However, the good news is that the actress has recovered and has resumed shooting for the show, which is currently taking place in her hometown, Delhi. She told Times of India, “Working in a daily soap can be quite demanding with everyone jostling to meet deadlines. Maybe, the work pressure that usually entails our profession got to me physically. I was not feeling like myself for a few months. It started with me feeling tired followed by high BP, anxiety and hot flashes during the shoot. When I consulted my doctors, they told me that I was going through hormonal imbalances, which was mostly stress-related and the kind of lifestyle I was leading. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and burnout. I was advised to take a break from work, so, I decided to take some time off, return home, recover and bounce back.” Did the actress think of quitting the show at any point? “Quitting the show was never on the mind. However, when I returned to Delhi, I was so much in my own cocoon that I really didn’t know what I was going through and how long it would last. Every week there would be a cycle of meeting the doctors and change of medication,” she said.

She further added, “I cut myself off completely from the outside world for around three weeks. I just wanted to be with my family and myself and away from people and social media. You start living a character after playing it for so long. So, I didn’t want to feel like Meher, but like Nimrit and rediscover myself. Fortunately, my producers and channel were accommodating and didn’t pressurise me to return immediately. Everyone gave me time and space that I needed to recover. I was also advised by my doctors to avoid watching anything, including my own show for the first few weeks, as that could have been a trigger. Once my doctors gave me the go-ahead to resume work slowly, I started shooting from home. And that’s when I started watching the show to know how the story was progressing.”
