UPDATE: Priya Mani to talk about her new web series

Actress Priya Mani is related to Vidya Balan

MUMBAI: The actress Priyamani who is currently playing the character of Suchi in the Amazon series The Family Man is related to the actor Vidya Balan. The first episode of the series The Family Man released on 20 September 2019 followed by season 2 which was released on 4 June 2021 and continued Suchi's storyline, in parallel with the main plot, which follows the adventure of her husband Shrikant Tiwari played by Manoj Bajpayee who is a TASC force spy.

Priyamani talked about her relationship with Vidya Balan over a decade ago, who is one of the most popular actors in Hindi films.

Some of the biggest Bollywood movies in which Vidya Balan played the role of the central character were The Dirty Picture, Kahaani and Tumhari Sulu.

Both Priyamani and Vidya Balan are National Award winners.

Priyamani won the National Award for Paruthiveeran and Vidya Balan won the National Award for The Dirty Picture.

In an interview with BehindWoods in 2010, Priyamani said "We don’t meet as often as our parents do. I’m very proud that she’s family, and I wish her a great career." This interview was held ahead of the release of Raavan, directed by Mani Ratnam. Priyamani was cast in both of the versions which were Hindi and Tamil.

Priyamani was once again asked about her relationship with Vidya Balan during her interview for her film Rakht Charitra 2, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, she was once again asked about her equation with Vidya.

She said, "Yes, we're second cousins. We haven't been in touch on a personal level not to her, but I'm in touch with her father. Whenever I come to Mumbai, I make it a point to call her dad. If possible, I would love to meet Vidya someday, because being cousins is a secondary thing, but as an actor, I'm extremely proud of her, and with the body of work that she's done, she's a fabulous actor."

In a 2012 Deccan Chronicle interview, Priyamani said she doesn't want to gain attention by bringing up Vidya Balan's success, said "I don’t need to take tips from my second cousin about which films to sign or not. I’m too independent to seek her advice," she said. "I may get more mileage if I bounce Vidya’s name in the Mumbai media, but I am totally averse to that idea. Some people may boast about their links to climb up the ladder but I’m not like that. Nothing can replace talent."

While Priyamani can be seen currently on Amazon Prime's The Family Man, Vidya Balan prepares for the release of her new film, Sherni.
